KLC provides a variety of classes for students of different Korean proficiencies.  To determine Korean proficiency, placement tests are available at no cost.  They are held during the week before classes by appointment.

The following Korean courses are offered at the Korean Language Center.  Enrollment is limited to 5 - 8 students per class.  Students should select a course based on their previous experience and their placement test results.  Proficiency tests are available to new students for evaluation and placement.

Special Course

The Korean Language Center is happy to announce the offering of a new 8 week course designed for those individuals who are able to speak the Korean language proficiently but lack the same level of reading and writing skills. In 8 short weeks, this course will teach you the basic reading and writing skills that will set you on your way to not only becoming fluent Korean language speakers but also proficient readers and writers of the Korean language..

Legal Korean/ Business Korean Program

These courses are designed for professionals who work in legal/business fields. Students will learn not only general Korean language but also importan terminology for their fields.

Elementary Korean


The elementary program consists of 5 levels of instruction.  It is designed to introduce spoken Korean to students at an elementary level.  The course approach emphasizes Korean language structure, vocabulary, and basic communication.  Through interaction in the classroom, the students will practice essential communication in Korean.

Intermediate Korean

The intermediate program also consists of 5 levels of instruction.  It is a continuation of the elementary program.  This program introduces to students the challenge of developing intermediate functions and focuses on expanded vocabulary, conversational skills, and written communication.  Students are required to write and discuss given topics.

Advanced Korean

The advanced program also consists of 5 levels of instruction.  It is a continuation of the intermediate program.  Designed for students with a solid knowledge of written and spoken Korean who want to become more skilled in the use of Korean syntax and stylistic expression and acquire a more in-depth knowledge of Korean contemporary civilization.  The advanced program gives students a chance to learn several hundred Chinese Characters which are an integral part of the Korean language system.
